GSB TEMPLE HISTORY
The Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Trust Founded in 1879,community is one of the ancient and respected Brahmin groups originating from the Saraswati river region and later settling along the Konkan coast, particularly in Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Known for their deep faith, discipline, and contribution to education, culture, and social service, the GSBs have preserved rich traditions of worship and community welfare through the generations.
Temple worship plays a central role in GSB life. The community has established and maintained several temples dedicated to deities such as Shri Walkeshwar, Shri Shantadurga, Shri Bhuleshwar, and others, which serve not only as spiritual centers but also as hubs of cultural and social activity.
These temples are efficiently managed by GSB Trusts and temple committees, which oversee daily rituals, festivals, and charitable initiatives. The management focuses on upholding age-old traditions while also engaging in educational, cultural, and medical welfare activities for the broader society. Through transparent administration and dedicated service, GSB temple trusts ensure that the community’s religious heritage continues to thrive in harmony with modern needs.
